KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Students unions including Nepal Students Union (NSU), All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary have jointly staged demonstrations near campus premises in protest of price hike in petroleum products in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday morning.[break]

The agitating students staged demonstrations at various places including Lazimpat, Thapathali, Tahachal, Mitrapark, Patan. The unions hit the streets today as part of second stage of demonstration after the meeting with the state oil monopoly NOC did not strike any chords.
The demonstration affected the vehicular movement in the Kathmandu Valley. Now it has turned into normalcy.
The board meeting of the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) held on September 25 had increased the price of petrol by Rs 5 per liter, diesel and petrol by Rs 3 and aviation turbine fuel by Rs 7.
