During the hour-long meeting held at the PM’s office in Singha Durbar, the former premiers told him to stay focused on the tasks of peace and constitution, informed Surya Bahadur Thapa, a former PM and chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party, who was present in the meeting. [break]
The former PMs also suggested that PM Bhattarai should check inflation, ensure a free flow of commodities and pay attention to the security situation of the country especially when the most widely observed festivals of Dashain and Tihar are just around the corner.
Apart from PM Bhattarai and ex-PM Thapa, former PMs Sher Bahadur Deuba, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Jhalanath Khanal were present in the meeting.
Former PM and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal however did not attend the meeting citing busy schedule. Another former PM Madhav Kumar Nepal was also not present in the meeting as he is currently out of the country.
Also today, PM Bhattarai held a meeting with security chiefs and secretaries of home and defense ministries at his office in Singha Durbar and instructed them for an enhanced security situation in the country.
Chiefs of all four security agencies, namely Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department and Nepal Army along with home secretary Lilanath Poudel and defense secretary Nabin Ghimire were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, PM Bhattarai has been holding a meeting with former chief secretaries of the government at his office in Singha Durbar.
