Daffodil secured the third position. Pennwood took home the boys´ title with a hard fought 48-47 win over Greenland in the final. Krishnaman who netted 16 points Pennwood was later declared the most valuable player.
Neema Sherpa of Valley Public was adjudged the best three pointers. Valley public took the honor standing in the third position.
The winners and the runners up of both categories bagged a purse of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Altogether 21 teams in boys´ and 12 teams in girls´ section participated in the event.
Double delight for Neric
Neric on Sunday registered double wins in the Sixth Unique Valley-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament being held at the hosts´ court Siphal. In junior boys´ section, Neric edged past 29-17 with 14 points from Binod Bhandari. In senior boys´ 3-on-3, Neric recorded a struggling 18-17 win over Innovative.
Ankit Bhandari netted 15 points for the hosts. Likewise, hosts Unique A, HIMS and VS Niketan also won their respective matches under the senior boys´ category. Unique A saw off its another team--B 30-21. Binup Maharjan and Bikash Shrestha scored 11 pints each for the winning side. Hims thrashed NOBS 15-7. VS Niketan upset Saipal 18-12. Nawang Rai contributed eight points for VS Niketan.
Tandukar maintain lead
Former Nepal champion Nabin Tandukar on Sunday maintained unbeaten run to continue with his sole lead with 5.5 points in the Patan Cup Chess Tournament being held at Gwarko, Patan. However, Tandukar´s winning run was halted in the sixth round match played Sunday after he shared points with Rajan Puri playing a draw. FIDE Master Manish Hamal, Ratna Byanjankar and Puri who lost to Byanjankar are jointly in the second spot with five points each in their kitty.
Sajin Maharjan, Umesh Saiju and Ramesh Bhandari jointly occupy third position with 4.5 points each. Harichandra Chaulagian, Bikash Kuluju, Rabindara Shakya, Radha Krishna Maharjan, Baburaja Maharjan, Shyamsundar ShresthaTriratna Shakya, Krishnahari Shrestha and Abiral Rai have scored four points each.
