Bikash Mahat and Sachin Amatya received the badges after the posts were vacated by Gyani Raja Shrestha and Surendra Sikhakar. According to FIFA rules, four Nepalis can be assigned as FIFA Referees and six can become FIFA Assistant Referees.
Himalayan Whitehouse in Akhil Cup quarters
KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Himalayan Whitehouse College entered the quarterfinals of the Akhil Cup 2066 Football Tournament organized by the All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU) on Saturday.
Whitehouse defeated 10-man Baneshwar Campus 2-0 in the final match of the first round to secure berth among the final eight teams. Krishna Gopal Shrestha´s brace led Whitehouse to victory as he scored two goals in the 50th and 59th minutes. Baneshwar Campus´s Debin Shrestha received red card during the match.
The other teams to reach the final eight are Nepal Commerce Campus, Patan Multiple Campus, Xavier International College, Golden Gate International College, Shankar Dev Campus, Triton College and TIA College.
Altogether 73 teams participated in the event that kicked off on December 7, 2009.
Region 3 selects cricketers for U-16 tourney
KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Regional Cricket Development Committee, Region No 3, selected 14 cricketers to participate in the Boost U-16 National Cricket Tournament 2009 scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from January 4-13.
Nupur Pandey will lead the team as captain while Sujan Basnet has been named vice-captain. The other members of the team are Bijaya Rokaya, Rishab Rajbhandari, Dilman Rokka, Gaurav Pathak, Mian Thapa, Sharad Khadka, Ram Krishna Jaisawal, Bikash Limbu, Roshan Khatri, Anmol Thapa, Ritesh Basnet and Bishal Limbu.
Four reserve players -- Sanjit Shrestha, Roshan Karki, Ayush Gautam and Karan Khatiwada -- were also selected for the team.
