Special team visits Ilam as Dr KC’s condition worsens

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: A special team of doctors visited Ilam district on Wednesday after the condition of Dr Govinda KC, who is on his 16th fast-unto-death since January 9, deteriorated even further.

The team including four doctors from the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan paid the visit following instructions from Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav, according to the minister’s press advisor, Bhakta Thapa. 

The team includes hospital Assistant Director Dr Bikash Shah, cardiologist Dr Prashant Sah, general physician Dr Ajaya Yadav, anesthesiologist Dr Sabin Bhandari, lab technician Jitendra Yadav and intensive care unit nurse Nirmala Basnet.

The team examined Dr KC and recommended that he is in urgent need of ICU care. Prior to this, a team of junior resident doctors had reached Ilam on the same mission.
