PARASI, Nov 24: Nepali Congress leader and member of the Special Committee for the Army Integration of the Maoist combatants, Dr. Ramsharan Mahat has said the national economy will be badly affected if the amount of the package for the Maoist combatants, who like to go for voluntary retirement, was provided in a lump sum.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the committee during the inspection of the Fourth Division of the Maoist Combatants at Jhyaltung Danda of Nawalparasi district Thursday, he said providing the lump sum to the combatants, who want to go for voluntary retirement, is not possible.[break]

On the occasion, the combatants put forth their views and said it would be easier to run any business when they got the lump sum.

Similarly, Mahat informed that there have been discussions for the pension, residence and free treatment for the disabled and injured combatants. But this package will only be brought to simultaneously address all those, who have become the victim of different democratic movements.

Similarly, CPN (UML) leader and member of the committee Bhim Rawal said it is not possible to integrate even a single person more than the fixed 6,500 combatants though the number of the combatants willing for the integration was high.

He said the Maoist combatants who like to go for the integration would have to complete necessary criteria.

NC leaders Mahat and Minendra Rijal, UML leader Rawal, and leader of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) Jitendra Dev have arrived in Arunkhola, today in the inspection trip.
