Smugglers, Madhesi protesters clash at Birgunj-Raxaul border point

KALAIYA, Dec 31: A clash was erupted between the protestors who were staging sit-in and Indian 'smugglers' at the Birgunj-Raxaul border point on Wednesday night. Some people have sustained injuries in the incident.



The three injured have been identified as Brijakisore Mahato of  Sisaniya-5 of Bara district, Amar Yadav of Mirjapur-8 of Parsa district and Mahendra Kumar Ram of Birgunj Sub-metro-19.

According to Parsa district police Chief Raj Babu Shrestha, the injured are undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital.


Shrestha further said that hundreds of smugglers had chased away the protesters.
Earlier, local businessmen had also clashed  with protesters at the border point as the protesters try to disrupt the delivery of goods.
