Gupta had accepted the land (1 kattha and 1.5 dhur) at Rs 6,511,111 auctioned by Nepal SBI Bank, Biratnagar, belonging to Anil Kumar Mishra of Lahan Municipality.[break]
However, Jha denied registering the land in Gupta’s name.
According to a source at the revenue office, Jha took fat bribe and turned down the official process to register the land in Gupta’s name.
The source further said that Jha, on the basis of a letter written by Abhishek Mishra of Lahan on May 8 calling to halt the land ownership process, stymied the registration process.
Concerned over the land revenue chief’s move, Gupta is preparing to move to the CIAA. Employees of the revenue office say Jha has already dirtied his hands and his working style is unsatisfactory.
