SIRAHA, May 16: Chief of Lahan Land Revenue Office Sushil Kumar Jha has been dragged into controversy after he refused to register land auctioned by bank in the name of Mahesh Kumar Gupta.

Gupta had accepted the land (1 kattha and 1.5 dhur) at Rs 6,511,111 auctioned by Nepal SBI Bank, Biratnagar, belonging to Anil Kumar Mishra of Lahan Municipality.[break]

However, Jha denied registering the land in Gupta’s name.

According to a source at the revenue office, Jha took fat bribe and turned down the official process to register the land in Gupta’s name.

The source further said that Jha, on the basis of a letter written by Abhishek Mishra of Lahan on May 8 calling to halt the land ownership process, stymied the registration process.

Concerned over the land revenue chief’s move, Gupta is preparing to move to the CIAA. Employees of the revenue office say Jha has already dirtied his hands and his working style is unsatisfactory.
