Schools shut for students in Mustang

MUSTANG, Oct. 24: The school shutdown caused by the absence of students has witnessed a rising trend in Himalayan district Mustang.



Dheye Primary School based in Surkhang VDC has remained closed for no students. Dhee Primary School in Surkhang-6 was shut three years ago while Dheye Primary School shut its operation from last mid-may, said Under Secretary at District Education Office Ram Prasad Acharya. [break]



Yara Primary School has four students, Dhara Primary has four, Shaligram Primary has five and Damodarkunda Primary Surkhang has five students, said Acharya.



Two teachers serving in Dheye Primary School were sent to Damodarkunda Primary in absence of students. There are altogether 10 teachers in four schools of which teachers of Dee Primary were transferred to Jhong and lower Mustang.



Likewise, Tiri Primary based in Kagbeni was also closed three years back. It is reported that some schools here show the record of fake students before the District Education Office for saving their existence.
