KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Supreme Court on Monday stayed the government decision to remove Keshav Sthapit as head of the Kathmandu Valley Town Development Authority (KVTD).
A division bench of Justices Ram Kumar Prasad Shah and Sushila Karki said that the government decision to remove Sthapit from the post is unconstitutional and against the doctrine of natural justice.
Sthapit moved to the apex court on Jan 21 citing that his removal is against the constitution and law stating that the tenure for the post should have been for five years as per the existing act.
The government had sacked Sthapit citing him incompetence to carry on the post. He was appointed in the post on April 29 last year.
