Saraswoti beat Mahabir Club 3-1 with a brace from Bishal Rai on Wednesday for its second successive victory to top Group A with a game in hand. Bouddha Football Club and Gyan Bhairab Club, which have one point each, and Mahabir, which has yet to open its account, cannot pip Saraswoti.
Saraswoti was relegated from the top flight in 2063 after being promoted in 2062.
Bishal opened Saraswoti’s account in the 17th minute and Nabin Basnet doubled the lead in the 56th but Krishna Shrestha scored in the very next minute to bring Mahabir back into the match. Bishal then notched the winning goal in the 64th to earn promotion for Saraswoti.
