KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Machchhindra Club recorded its first ever victory in the ongoing Martyrs Memorial 'A' Division League Football Championship by defeating the Saraswoti Youth Club in the today's match held at the Satdobato-based ANFA Complex.
The match ended in 4-2. Machchhindra's captain Bishal Rai; foreign player Vassadia Diamonde; Anil Gurung and Bikash Rai contributed a goal each to the team.
In the beginning of the match, Saraswoti was taking a lead at Machhindra's Sanjaya Rajbahak made a suicide goal in the fourth minute of the match and it was naturalized by Bishal's score in the 16th minute.

Then it was again a turn of Machchhinadra's foreign player Diamonde to hit the goalpost, taking the team to a lead. Similarly, one more goal for the team came from Anil in the 25th minute.
The players of Saraswoti were successful in limiting the goal score 3-2 till the 36th minute following a goal from its foreign player Fransis Okenchukan.
Machchhindra utilised a penalty shootout offered to the team in extra time as the effort of Saraswoti's goalkeeper to stop Bikash's kick to knock onto the net became impossible.
Machchhindra's captain Bishal Rai won the title of the 'Man of the Match'. With this victory, Machchhindra has garnered 6 points from 10 matches and climbed up to the 11th position of the league table while Saraswoti which has so played an equal number of matches is in the ninth position with 10 points.
