The building of Child Service Primary School based at Jhula-5 in the district built by the World Food Programme and Nepal Red Cross Society just five months ago.[break]
Ever since the landslide damaged the building teaching has been affected, said school teacher Hari Prasad Sharma. Two other buildings of the school are at landslide risk.
Similarly, study at Bhanubhakta Lower Secondary School has also been affected after its building was swept away by another landslide. "Students are being taught in school ground," said Chairman of School Management Committee Khambu Jaise.
Classes at Ghetma-based Saraswoti Lower Secondary School have also been hit after a deluge triggered by heavy rainfall demolished the school wall and caused damage to the school building.
These three schools are not alone. There are 150 schools in Rukum where classes are being conducted under open sky in view of this year´s monsoon havoc. These schools are also facing textbook crisis, lack of adequate infrastructure and shortage of teachers.
Teachers have been complaining that the District Education Office is not doing the needful.
