RPP-N first party to go public with election manifesto

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) has become the first party to unveil election manifesto on Tuesday. The party has proposed King as the ceremonial head of the state and directly elected prime minister as the executive head.



Speaking at Hotel Radisson in the capital, Chairman Kamal Thapa said, "The main agenda of our party is restoration of the country as a Hindu nation with full religious freedom, democracy and constitutional monarchy." [break]



He further said that the main slogan of the party for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections would be "positive change." He accused major parties of spreading "negative changes" in the country.



Stating that the country´s economy was in crisis, Thapa said, "We have vowed that our party would never enforce Nepal Banda as businesses and general people suffer the most during such strikes."



Thapa said that the country should have a bicameral legislature, with 207-member house of representative and 60-member national assembly. He stressed that a new model of local self governance will be a better alternative to the federal system.



“The same person should not be allowed to hold the post of prime minister more than twice.”



Claiming that his was the only party with a master-plan for the development of Madhes, Thapa said, “Mechi-Mahakali railway track should be built to link Tarai and Hill.” He further said that the party has proposed in the manifesto the development of many industrial corridors in Tarai. “We will take the initiative for the formation of ´Mithila Culture Promotion Academy´, which will be a governmental body to ensure the promotion and development of Mithila culture and language.” He added that his party firmly believes that all the languages spoken in Tarai and Hill are national languages.



Describing that their party also advocate for the cause of Muslim, Thapa said, “National Muslim Commission should be formed to ensure the development of Muslim culture. We also strongly believe that Madrasa education should be developed and mainstreamed.”



Thapa insisted that the 1950´s Indo-Nepal treaty was unequal and that it should be amended. “We have also proposed that all the unequal treaties should be amended at present pretext.” He also claimed that foreign diplomatic agencies in the country are working as the parallel government.



Insisting that the country´s economic condition was deteriorating day-by-day, Thapa said, "We have proposed in the manifesto that within 10 years the country´s economic growth rate would increase by double digits, within 15 years there would be huge employment opportunity and we are hopeful that none of the Nepalis would have to go abroad in the search of jobs."

On a different note, Thapa said, “All Nepali citizens in their late sixties should get free medical treatment.” He further added that his party would take the initiative to distribute a free laptop to each university level students.
