Ultra Tech cement is a popular brand of cement in India and Aditya Birla Group is the 11th biggest cement producer in the world and 7th biggest in Asia. Having an annual production capacity of 18.2 tons, Ultra Tech Cement Limited has five integrated plants, six grinding units and three terminals -- two in India and one in Sri Lanka, says the release, adding that the company exports over 2.5 million tons of cement every year.
TAAN condemns extortion
KATHMANDU, Oct 29: Trekking Agencies´ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has drawn attention of concerned authorities over the rising cases of forceful collection of donation from trekkers and trekking operators by the cadres of UCPN (Maoists). TAAN also condemned the incidents and sought solidarity from travel trade associations against such illegal activities.
Issuing a press statement on Thursday, TAAN said some organized groups and the cadres of UCPN (Maoist) and its sister organizations have been involved in extorting money from trekkers, trekking workers, and trekking operators in different areas of Annapurna Region and the Manaslu Region.
"We would like to draw the attention of UNMIN, government, political parties, civil society, tourism related associations and other concerned stakeholders towards such incidents," the release stated.
TAAN also said such incidents can bring negative impact on tourism sector and badly affect the contribution of tourism industry -- one of the largest foreign currency earners.
BoK reaches Urlabari
KATHMANDU, Oct 29: Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has opened a new branch in Urlabari, one of the growing markets of Koshi zone. The new branch commenced operations on Wednesday. It is the 32nd branch of the bank.
According to a press release, Urlabari branch will extend deposits, credit, letter of credit, remittances and other services to the people residing and doing businesses along the highway from Itahari to Damak. Apart from its branches, BoK has also been providing services to its clients through six counters and also 31 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the country.
The bank has also unveiled a plan to add more branches in the current fiscal year.
