“Now I don´t have money to buy even a single bamboo cane. I wonder how will I be able to build a house,” said a fire victim, Ram Prasad Sada.
Most of the Musahar families work as farm laborers and don´t own any land. “People from our community make a living working others´ fields during the monsoon. Now we have no work and no money so building a house is out of question,” said another fire victim Gangaya Sada.
Gangaya said his family is living under a tent borrowed from his friend. “One bamboo cane costs Rs 300 and to build a bamboo house it costs around Rs 40,000-50,000. So now a house is just a dream for me,” said Gangaya.
Many victims, who are living under donated tents said they are suffering mosquito bites in the lack of mosquito nets.
“It´s hard to sleep in the night because of mosquito attack. We don´t have money to buy nets,” said another victim Tiliya Sada.
Meanwhile, Town Development and Building Construction Division has starting surveying the damage caused by fire.
