Rapist father sentenced to eight years in jail

MORANG, May 20: A man here has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison after being found guilty of raping his adopted daughter.

District Court, Morang Judge Shekhar Prasad Poudel handed down the sentence against Gopal Sharma of the district for committing the heinous act against his 15-year-old daughter. He was also fined Rs. 75,000. The case of rape was filed on behalf of the rape survivor in September last year.

Sharma had reportedly adopted the girl when she was four years old, after her mother, a resident of Ramechap district passed away. RSS
