Rana of Rupandehi scored 389 points out of 400 on Monday shooting 40 bullets in 50 minutes as per the new laws of shooting. She had scored equal points shooting 40 bullets in 1 hour 15 minutes as per the old laws of shooting in a previous tournament. The laws of shooting were amended and implemented from January 2013.[break]
As Rana led the women´s event on Monday, Phul Maya Kyapchhaki of Nepal Police scored 381 points to remain in the second position while Asmita Rai accumulated 369 points to remain in the third position.
In the women´s 10m air pistol event, Sima Tuladhar of Nepal Police scored 351 points to take the lead, with her teammates Saraswati Baniya (347 points) and Sima Chaudhary (342 points) trailing in second and third positions.
In the men´s 10m air rifle event, Hari Thapa of Nepal Police took the lead with 560 points out of 600 while Nepal Army´s Shankar Dahal (555 points) and Ram Babu Dani of Nepal Police (544 points) remained in the second and third positions.
Likewise, Nepal Army´s Kuber KC led the men´s 10m air pistol event with a score of 557. His teammates Sudan Khadka (523 points) and Hem Bahadur Budhathoki (509 points) were in the second and third positions.
Altogether 64 shooters -- 32 male and 32 female -- are participating in the championship. According to Nepal Shooting Association, the top six players of each event will qualify for the respective finals.
