Sneha equals national record in 10m air rifle

KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Sneha Rajya Laxmi Rana of Rupandehi scored 389 out of 400 points in women's 10m air rifle during a selection tournament for the 12th South Asian Games that kicked off on Tuesday at the shooting range of Satdobato, Lalitpur.

By scoring 389 points she also matched her own national record. Phulmaya Kyapchhaki and Ashmita Rai of Nepal Police Club both scored 385 points, however, Phulmaya is on the second position following series shot.Similarly, in men's 10m air rifle Pawan Ghimire of Dang scored 569 out of 600 points, while Sanjog Krishna Shrestha of Banke scored 541 points and Ramu Paudel of Rupandehai 539 points.

In women's 10m air pistol, out of 400 points, Sabita Basnet and Sima Tuladhar of Police scored 363 points and 360 points, respectively, while Rubeena Shrestha of Lalitpur scored 355 points.

In men's section, Ram Lal Gurung (535 points) and Yam Bahadur Gurung (517 points) of Tribhuvan Army Club and Prakash Rai (512 points) of Kathmandu were in top three positions on Wednesday.

Six men and six women shooters will be selected through the event for the SAG to be held in India on February 6-16 next year.
