I am ready to take oath in Nepali many times if Nepali people want so. But I am not prepared to take an oath under any conspiracy and compulsion. It is the fact that I took the oath in Hindi but the written oath undersigned by me was in Nepali language. The court has not nullified my oath in Nepali language.

- Vice President Parmananda Jha

Press conference, July 29, 2009

As a lawmaker upholding the rule of law, I cannot make any negative comment on this. Nevertheless, since political party leaders are representatives of certain community, it should be purely an individual matter to decide what they wear and what language they take oath in. The apex court verdict is against the spirit of federal republic of Nepal.

We have a very clear line. The peace process is tied with two or three things. One army integration, second constitution writing and third environment that is progressive and constantly peaceful. We are committed to these aims. Sadly, we have found that this government is working against the peace process.
