KATHMANDU, March 17: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice-Chair Dol Prasad Aryal has said that public frustration with traditional parties is the key reason behind his party’s emergence as the largest political force in the country.

Addressing an orientation program for newly-elected party lawmakers, Aryal stressed the need to ensure good governance and end corruption, urging leaders to live up to the trust the public has placed in party Chair Rabi Lamichhane and Senior Leader Balendra Shah (Balen).

He said the failure of long-dominant parties to serve public interests led voters to back the RSP, and emphasized that the mandate must be respected. “This vote is not because RSP is the only option, but because people have given us a mandate,” he said. “That mandate comes with greater responsibility.”

Aryal noted that securing around 80 percent of the votes cast is rare in global elections and urged party leaders to keep citizens’ interests at the center.
