KATHMANDU, May 28: Eid al-Adha,, also known as Bakra-Eid, the second biggest festival of the Muslim community, is being observed by the Muslim community across the country today. The festival is observed on the 70th day of Eid al-Fitr or Ramadan.
On this day, Muslims visit the nearest mosques after a morning bath and attend a mass prayer to read the Namaj. After completing the reading of the Namaj, they exchange greetings by hugging each other.
On the occasion, there will be a crowd of Islamic religious people in mosques across the country, including Nepali Jame Masjid (mosque) in Durbar Marga, Kathmandu and Kashmiri Masjid. The festival will be observed up to the coming Saturday.
Likewise, the government has announced a public holiday for Thursday (today) to mark Eid al-Adha.

Likewise, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that such festivals have maintained the proud tradition of mutual respect, tolerance and goodwill and has wished for happiness, peace and prosperity to all members of the Muslim community.
