BAGLUNG, Oct 16: Education Minister Dinanath Sharma on Tuesday accused the opposition parties of trying to make the president active now to satisfy their partisan interests.

"While discussing about the new constitution, these parties stood against active president, now the same parties are encouraging the president to be active to resolve the deadlock," Sharma said.

Talking to media persons at a program organized by the Baglung chapter of Revolutionary Journalists Association this morning, he said that the president who is the guardian of the constitution should refrain from giving unconstitutional remarks.

He also stressed that the incumbent government would not resign anytime soon. "The question of stepping down does not arise. The need of  the hour is to bring an agenda to promulgate the new statute through the Constituent Assembly," Sharma added.

Hinting at the UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal´s recent remark  that the incumbent government would be ousted through stiff protest, he said, "Just because some parties warn of toppling the government, this government would not yield in."

Accusing the President of being hindrance in developing education sector, he said that due to rigid stance taken by the president, the parties failed to endorse ordinances, resulting in government being unsuccessful in bringing programs for development of the education sector in the country.
