JHAPA, Jan 2: Records with Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN) show increase in pregnancy among unmarried women in Jhapa district.

Jhapa chief of FPAN, Chandra Mani Paudel, revealing the figures of 2009, said 122 unmarried women of 16-25 years took safe abortion services from the organization. “There are dozens of other health centers providing the service and the actual number can be much higher,” Paudel reasoned.

FPAN said college students and sex workers made the majority of unmarried women seeking abortion.
