Power summit to be held on Aug 26-27

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Power Summit -2013 is going to be held in the capital on August 26-27 with support from the Ministry of Energy and the Investment Board.



The summit is going to be organised jointly by the Independent Power Producers´ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), PTC India Limited and Non-Resident Nepali Association ( NRNA). [break]



The theme of the summit is "Hastening pace of hydropower development". Information about this was shared at a programme organised by the IPPAN in the capital on Sunday.



Speaking at the programme, Joint Secretary at the Energy Ministry Keshab Dhwoj Adhikari stressed the need of all-side support and cooperation for the development of energy sector.



Joint Secretary with the Investment Board Mukunda Poudel said they are working with long term visions to address the problem of energy crisis.



Works of West Seti and Budhi Gandaki hydropower projects are taking a pace whereas around 50 percent works of the Upper Tamakoshi Project have been completed, he said.



IPPAN President Dr Suwarnadas Shrestha and NRNA representative Tenzing Sherpa put their views at the programme.



Representatives from Nepal, India, China, Norway, Korea, Russia, Czech Republic, Canada, the United States of America and New Zealand will be taking part in the summit which is expected to focus on discussions about the power projects of international consumption and internal investment, foreign investment in the sector of power, foreign market oriented projects, market of power energy and ways of market management, among others, IPPAN President Shrestha said.
