According to the DPO, the water level in the river has already reached 13 meters although the high alert level is just 9 meters.
“The river was raging from Monday and the drastic increment in the water level is of serious concern for the security of locals residing in the district,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Surendra Bikram Sah.
Police shared that flooding has already entered Daulaltpur, Khairi, Chandanpur, Gola VDC and around three dozens households have been shifted to safer grounds.
“It is better that the locals are aware of the situation and are taking preventive measures,” said Sah.
Sah informed that they have requested the Indian government to open the barrage before the water level rises further. “The barrage is located at Kaulashpur of India and we are trying to coordinate with them before the situation gets out of control,” said Sah.
As a contingency measure, a cluster of rescue teams is on standby in coordination with police and the Nepal Red Cross Society for any necessary intervention, informed Sah.
Meanwhile, DPO shared more than 100 households of Majhara village at Khairichandanpur VDC have been displaced due to the flooding.
