Police shoot man dead

DHANUSHA, June 7: Police shot a pillion rider dead in Haripur village of Dhanusha district, Sunday evening. Police claimed they opened fire at the motorbike in retaliation.



At first the pillion rider opened fire at the security personnel, who tried to stop the motorbike, at a checkpoint, and he was shot dead in retaliation, police claimed. The man who was driving the bike managed to escape, police said.



The deceased has been identified as Surendra Mahato, 25, a resident of Kanchhi bazaar in Dhanusha . The locals have obstructed the traffic protesting the killing.
