Chandra Bhandari and Niru Thapa scored a goal each for Police. [break]Bhandari sandwiched by two Army defenders opened the scoring in the 54th minutes utilizing a cross from Yashoda Lama. Police doubled the advantage through Thapa during the fading moments.
Police dominated the show and created frequent attractive moves. During the early moments of the match, Lama´s freekick went straight in the hands of Army gloveswomen Lila Lamgade. In the seventh minute Bhandari failed to give a finishing touch to Thapa´s cross.
Army remained unlucky to take lead in the 17th minute as Deepa Adhikari´s 20-yard freekick rebound off the bar. Army went further closer when Kalpana Karki set Krishna Khatri on one-versus-one with advancing Police custodian Namita Dali but Khatri failed to reach the ball.
In the 18th minute, Police skipper Bhandari missed a free header as goalie Lamgade advanced to grab the ball.
In the 60th minutes Army keeper Lamgade made a brilliant save denying a close range shot from Rupa Magar. Playmaker Thapa had supplied the ball to Magar inside the area. Thapa´s the 64th minute freekick sailed above the bar.
In the 75th minute, NPC goalie saved a close range shot from Anjali Waiba which was provided by Krishna Khatri.
Thapa sealed the victory for NPC with a cool finish in the dying minutes of the game. Magar had provided Thapa a tricky pass inside the area. Army defender cleared Thapa´s first shot from the goalline but she managed to score in the second attempt.
Police coach Sandesh Shrestha said the match was tough. "We could not score in the first half despite creating many chances. But the confidence level of team went high after opening the score," said Shrestha.
