KATHMANDU, Aug 6: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday quashed a writ petition seeking the court´s order to remove Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai from office.

A single bench of Justice Tahir Ali Ansari said that the court cannot intervene in such a political issue at a time when the country neither has a Constituent Assembly nor a parliament.[break]

Advocates Saroj Kumar Thapa and Paras Mani Bhattarai on Monday had filed the petition demanding that the court issue a directive ousting the prime minister in order to pave the way for a national consensus government.
