Parliamentary committee monitors earthquake devastation

HETAUDA, May 17: A parliamentary committee led by Constituent Assembly member Shiva Lal Thapa is monitoring the devastations caused by the April 25 earthquakes and the subsequent aftershocks in the district today.

The committee comprises CA members Pharmullah Mansoor, Manju Kumari Chaudhari and Narendra Saha. The monitoring began from Kakada Agara of the district.


Meanwhile, Assistant Chief District Officer Chandra Bahadur Karki has said the District natural disaster rescue committee and different organizations have finalized relief distribution in the district. As many as 37,700 houses were destroyed while 3,200 got partial damages in the district.

The district witnessed 34 casualties and treated some 574 injured persons. Data collection on the death and damages was in full swing, added Mr Karki. RSS
