KATHMANDU, Dec 11: US President Barak Obama has lauded Nepal’s contribution to the United Nations Peace keeping operations, by sending a letter to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, one of his aides said.

“We are deeply appreciative of your country’s contribution to this vital effort [peacekeeping operations],” the US President said in the letter.

Obama further wrote to Nepal, “We want to work with you and other partners to improve the operational capacity necessary for peacekeepers to effectively meet their mandates, while also promoting the accompanying political processes and local conditions necessary for peacekeepers to complete their mission and depart.”

Nepal’s Press Advisor Bishnu Rijal said that the prime minister has been encouraged by the letter from the US President. “It is an honor only to the prime minister but also to whole nation,” he said.
