NT cuts SMS rates for festive season<br/>Asian Life Insurance to issue public shares

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Starting Thursday, Nepal Telecom (NT), the state-owned telecom service provider, will be reducing SMS rates by half for the period of the Dashain-Tihar festive season. NT said the reduction will be valid on its GSM and CDMA mobiles services between September 24 and October 7. [break]



"We will provide the 50 percent festival discount on charges for SMS between NT´s mobile phone services. The charges for SMS to other service providers´ phone numbers will remain as it is now," NT spokesperson Surendra Thike said.



The reduction is valid for both the pre-paid and post-paid lines in NT´s GSM and CDMA services.



The regular charges on NT´s SMS stands at Rs 1 for each SMS, excluding taxes. The charge for each SMS goes up to Rs 1.25 after including VAT. During this the period of the offer, mobile users will be charged Rs 0.62, including all other charges per SMS, NT said.





Asian Life Insurance to issue public shares



KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) -- the capital market regulator-- has granted permission to Asian Life Insurance Company to issue 1.08 million units of public share with face value of Rs 100.



The company has total paid-up capital worth Rs 360 million, of which 70 percent has been invested by its promoters, said a press release issued by the company on Friday.



NIDC Capital Market has been appointed as the issue manager of the company´s Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company said the process for issuing share will be initiated after Dashain festival.
