NSJF distributes relief to earthquake hit members

KATHMANDU, July 9: Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) on Thursday distributed cash support to its members affected by April 25 earthquake and aftershocks.

NSJF, the umbrella organization of sports journalists, distributed a total relief amount of Rs 6,80,000 to 14 media persons associated with it. NSJF gave away Rs 60,000 each to six members whose houses were destroyed by the earthquake and Rs 40,000 each to eight members whose houses were damaged.NSJF President Ajay Phuyal, Vice President Dhruba Tuladhar, Member Govinda Regmi and Sonika Aryal, who is affiliated with the headquarters, received Rs 60,000 each. Similarly, Ranjan Adhikari and Dinanath Baral affiliated with the Kaski Coordination Committee of NSJF will also be given the same amount via district committee.

General Secretary Mahesh Acharya, IPP Niranjan Rajbanshi, Members Pawan Acharya, Sanjeev Silpakar, Bikram Thapa, Anjan Khadka, Muna Karki and Pradip Paudel were given Rs 40,000 each. Paudel is affiliated to Kaski Committee while remaining members are affiliated with the headquarters.

NSJF had earlier given more than Rs 1.2 million to the family of late Suman Bhomjan who had in the April 25 earthquake in Kathmandu. Bhomjan was the founder President of Makawanpur Coordination Committee. Similarly, it had also deposited Rs 5,00,000 to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.

NSJF had received $ 20,000 from International Sports Press Association (AIPS) as earthquake relief and collected around Rs 7,50,000 from various individuals and association within the country.
