KATHMANDU: Keeping in view possible security threats by the agitating political parties, the government on Tuesday decided to deploy Nepal Army (NA) personnel for the purpose of election security.

A meeting of National Security Council held on Tuesday evening took a formal decision to deploy NA personnel for election security as per the constitutional provision, said a press statement issued by Spokesperson at the Ministry of Defense Dwarika Prasad Acharya.[break]

The decision follows endorsement of the Integrated Security Plan for Constituent Assembly Members Election endorsed by the Central Security Committee meeting on Friday. Except for the previous CA polls held in 2008, NA personnel have been mobilized in all elections held in the past in Nepal.
