The tournament to be played over 54 holes will feature 34 professional and 6 amateur golfers.Most participants played a practice round on Tuesday to acclimatize with the conditions of the course.
The total cash prize of the tournament is Rs 300,000 with the winner taking home a check of Rs 55,000, runner-up winning Rs 37,000 and third place finisher earning Rs 28,000. Others in the top 21 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
Nepal number one pro Shivaram Shrestha, along with Rabi Khadka, Sanjay Lama, and Umesh Nagarkoti are the pre-tournament favorite of the championship. Top amateurs including Arun Tamang and Tanka Karki will vie for amateur trophy.
Altogether, 21 professionals will make the cut for the final round after 36 holes of play. Amateurs to survive the professional cut will also vie in the final round.
Stating the reason behind sponsoring the event, President of NPGA Shrestha said that professionals and top amateurs need continued support and platform to play more competitive Golf. Thus he gave continuity to sponsorship for sustainable development of the game.
