KATHMANDU, March 14: According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, there is no provision in the law about the perks and benefits that the former presidents and former vice presidents and the outgoing president and vice president will get.
In the case of the first president, Dr Rambaran Yadav, the Council of Ministers decided to provide various perks and benefits.
Govt not to allow perks, incentives in blanket fashion
According to Jitendra Basnet, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Council of Ministers has decided to provide Dr Yadav with a salary of 50,000 rupees per month and 200,000 rupees per month for house rent and additional services.
Basnet said that the government has been providing 200 liters of fuel per month. Similarly, accommodation and secretariat have also been arranged. In the case of the former Vice President, a decision has not been taken by the Council of Ministers, according to Ministry of Home Affairs sources.
Information Officer of Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office Surendra Kumar Sah said that a proposal has been prepared to spend 1 million rupees to construct sentry posts at four places for the residence of outgoing President Bidya Bhandari which is being built in Budhanilkantha.
Sah says that Rs 1 million will be spent on sentry posts if the Ministry of Finance provides. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Basnet, said that the Council of Ministers has yet to make a decision regarding the perks and benefits of the outgoing President Bhandari.
