POKHARA, July 1: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal has said that it was wrong to protest against the preliminary draft of the new constitution, and to tear copies of it.

Speaking at a press organized by Nepal Press Union Kaski here this morning, he said as the new constitution will be finalized only after taking people's as well as the parties' submission on it, it was wrong to have resorted to such acts. "The new constitution can be promulgated only with a two-thirds majority of the parliamentarians, and so it is only with the consent of the parliamentarians of all the political parties that the constitution can be ensured", he said. Dr Rijal also appealed to all CA members to provide their support towards that end.

NC leader Dr Rijal, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said the NC is not in favour of lengthening the stay of the present government. The congress' quest of drafting a new constitution from the Constituent Assembly is about to be realized, which will be done before the upcoming general convention of the party, and so will be the formation of a new unity government, he added.
