NGA distributes relief goods

KATHMANDU, May 9: Nepal Golf Association (NGA) on Friday distribute tarpaulins and blankets to the victims of the devastating earthquake that claimed lives of more than 7,500 people and injured more than 15,000 across the country. The NGA is planning to buy 1,000 tarpaulins and blankets each through fund collected from its well-wishers.

According to NGA General Secretary Tashi Ghale, the organization has received US$ 4,000 from Aron Bergman, proprietor of Golf in Schools of Texas, United States, and Rs 750,000 from Ghale Brothers. The NGA will bear the cost of insufficient amount for the purchase via its internal resources.


On Friday, the NGA team distributed 252 tarpaulins in Dhungkhark VDC of Kavre district and 200 blankets in Dhukharka Health Post and Mukteshwar Mahadev Elderly Home.

NGA General Secretary Ghale, Treasurer Kishan Agrawal, Nepal no 1 golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha and Deepak Thapa Magar distributed the relief materials.

According to Ghale, the NGA will immediately distribute tarpaulins and blankets in Gorkha, Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Lalitpur districts.

Meanwhile, NGA decided to provide Rs 25,000 to the family of deceased sports journalist Suman Bomjan. Ghale said that the association will provide the amount through Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF).
