NEPSE plunges 45.36 points while daily turnover inclines to Rs 5.76 billion

KATHMANDU, October 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plummeted 45.36 points to close at 2,559.59 points.

This is the second day in a row that the secondary market plunged heavily. On Tuesday too, the market declined by more than 58 points. Together, the index fell by over 104 points in two days trading.

The secondary market opened at 2,604.95 points and went to a straight fall to hit the day’s low at 2,535.66 points in the last 80 minutes of trading hours. The market however recovered around 24 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

All the 13 groups were the losers. As non-life insurance lost the highest of 226.22 points, a total of four groups had their indices decline by three-digit points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies dropped 8.15 points. The daily turnover however inclined to Rs 5.76 billion from Rs 4.62 billion. 

Among the individual companies, only 18 were gainers while 232 were recorded as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 261.69 million.

Prabhu Insurance declined by the highest of 6.12 percent. Shangri-la Development Bank Debenture 2087 with a decline of 7.09 percent was recorded as the topmost gainer.
