Issuing a press statement, Nepal´s embassy in Australia on Thursday said that the consulate office was jointly inaugurated by Nepal´s ambassador to Australia, Rudra Kumar Nepal and Chief of Protocol at Department of the Premier and Cabinet of South Australia Bev Smart.
Speaking on the occasion, the Nepali ambassador expressed satisfaction over longstanding relations and cooperation between Nepal and Australia. He said that the opening of the consulate office has given a new impetus to Nepal-Australia relations.

"It would help for promoting trade, tourism and investment between the two countries, more particularly between Nepal and South Australia," ambassador Nepal said.
He also said that the new office would help promote and protect the interests of Nepal and Nepalese people living in South Australia.
Chief of Protocol Smart was of the view that the establishment of the office was a landmark event in the annals of Australia-Nepal relations. She assured full cooperation and support of the South Australia government in the functioning of the new office.
Australian government officials, friends of Nepal, and Nepalese nationals residing in Adelaide had attended the ceremony.
The inaugural program began with the playing of respective national anthems of Nepal and Australia.
