Nepali chess team makes flying start in India

KATHMANDU, June 1: The Nepali youth team made a flying start in the Lions Kamrup-Nepal Junior Chess Tournament Monday, with all ten Nepali players winning their inaugural matches held at Guhawati, Assam, India.[break]



Junior Nepal champion Rukesh Duwal, rated 1758, eased past Anish Das, while no. 2 Madan Krishna Kayastha, rated 1906, downed Mohit Jain.



Likewise, Prajwal Raj Rajopdhya, rated 1783, beat Sahil Jain; Saurabh Pradhan defeated Mehal Pasari; Prasanta Bhasim beat Pravab Kumar Agrawal; Sri Krishna Prajapati downed Arham Jain; Anil Silpakar crushed Nikunja Agrawal; Bijay Man Thaiba beat Siddhanta Khemka; Sajin Maharja beat Chirag Jain; and Manishwor Thapa eased past Subham Jain.



Along with the win, each of the players also added one point apiece to his overall tally.



The 16-member team reached Assam on Sunday to participate in the six-day-long friendly tournament.
