Senior Public Health Officer Kedar Parajuli said tests of water samples sent from Nepalgunj at the national laboratory in Kathmandu found the water to be contaminated much more than the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO). [break]
A sample from the tank of NWSC, two samples from the distribution pipeline and two samples from hand pump were sent for tests. Though the water from the tank was found safe for drinking, the water reaching consumers´ home and water from the hand pumps were deemed not fit for drinking.
