KATHMANDU, July 22: Nepal Police Club clinched gold in the group pumse category in the ongoing Fifth Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship on Friday. Kathmandu District finished in the second while Rupandehi had to satisfy in the third position.
In the junior women´s U-42 kg category, Rakhi Sharma from Pokhara won gold defeating Navina Thapa Magar from Kavre in the final held at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium. [break]
Parvati Gurung from Chitwan defeated Ashma Baral of Nepal Army to clinch gold in the junior women´s U-49 kg category. In the senior women´s category, Sangita Shrestha of Nepal APF Club beat Amita Rai from Sunsari in U-49 kg to take gold. Rohit Tamang clinched gold in senior men´s U-68 kg category defeating Damber Bahadur Bohora from Kanchanpur in the final.
Nepal´s South Korean coach Kwon Yeong Dal along with Sangina Baidhya and 14 other coaches were felicitated during the final day of the tournament.
Altogether 331 players from 41 districts and three departmental teams had contested for 18 golds in the three-day tournament.
