Nepal, Khanal discuss cabinet expansion

KATHMANDU, June 12: CPN-UML central committee meeting entrusted Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, the party´s senior leader, and Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal with finalizing the names of leaders to be inducted in the cabinet.



"The CC meeting decided to hand over the responsibility to the two top leaders after the prime minister during the meeting asked the party to immediately recommend names for ministers," said a UML leader. Nepal reached the party headquarters while meeting was in progress.



Following the party´s decision, Nepal and Khanal held talks one on one.



UML leaders said the two leaders have endorsed Shankar Pokharel and Bhim Rawal for ministers. Also, Rabindra Shrestha, Raghubir Mahaseth, Rakam Chemjong and Dal Bahadur Rana are other most likely faces for ministers.



According to a UML CC member, the names proposed for state ministers are Dilli Mahat and Dambar Singh Sambahamphe, and either Rijwan Ansari or Mohammad Alam. The top UML leaders are planning to appoint Govinda Thapa or Yubraj Khatiwada as state minister for finance, according to the leader.
