KATHMANDU, March 19: Nepal claimed the team championship title of the Second South Asian ITF Taekwondo Championship winning 42 gold, 34 silver and 45 bronze medals.
India had to satisfy themselves in the second position with 26 gold, 25 silver and 19 bronz medals as the three-day event came to an end at the Dasharath Stadium’s covered hall on Saturday. [break]
Bangladesh finished third with six gold, one silver and three bronze.
Pabitra Udas of India and Chaouchi Dangol of Nepal were adjudged the best female and male players respectively in the senior category.
Udas had won three gold, one silver and as many bronze medals while Dangol clinched two golds.
In the junior category, Tulsi Thapa of Nepal and Meraba Mangang of India received the awards for the best female and male players respectively.
Thapa won four gold while Mangang won three gold and a silver. Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari gave away the awards to the winners.
