A meeting of the party´s Central Policy and Orientation Academy (CPOA) held on Monday decided to conduct a three-day training and orientation program in Pokhara from August 3 with a view to providing district secretaries with necessary skills and knowledge for ensuring effective management of the party´s organization in their respective districts.[break]
The party has two secretaries each -- one directly elected and one nominated by the district presidents -- in all 75 districts.
According to CPOA member Binod Bhattarai, the training also aims at imparting knowledge about the party´s rules and regulations, leadership skills and necessary communication skills to the district secretaries to act as a bridge between the party´s area and village level committees and central level committee. "Party´s senior leaders will also brief the secretaries about the current political developments and the party´s official policies on various issues," he said.
NC President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel, who also heads CPOA, are scheduled to attend the program. They are also scheduled to address the problems faced by the secretaries at the district level and answer their queries on various issues.
Likewise, NC is holding a two-day gathering of the party´s district committee presidents across the country from July 30 to discuss the current political situation and forge the party´s future strategy.
All 75 district presidents are scheduled to gather at Bahrabise in Sindhupalchowk to attend the annual gathering that started last year.
The gathering, earlier slated for July 25, was rescheduled after the party leadership decided to hold the gathering after the party´s CWC meeting comes up with the party´s position on various concurrent political issues, including formation of a national consensus government, revival of CA and fresh election, among others.
