A meeting of the party´s senior leaders held at party president Girija Prasad Koirala´s resident in Maharajgunj in the capital Saturday afternoon decided to launch the protests against the Maoists´ moves.
"We have decided to consult with other parties before deciding the date and modality of the protests," said the party´s vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel.
The party is going to hold meeting with ruling CPN-UML and Madhesi People´s Rights Forum this evening or Sunday morning to discuss what the parties could to for stopping the Maoists from taking unilateral decisions on the sensitive national issues.
The meeting decided to mobilize the party cadres nationwide against the Maoists´ "totalitarian" rule from Sunday said Arjun Narsingh KC, the party´s spokesperson. KC, however, did not elaborate what sort of protests the party cadres will launch immediately.
KC said the party will decide the modalities of the protest after holding talks with UML and MPRF. The consultation with the two ruling parties will focus on preventing the Maoist-led government from attacking important national institutions like judiciary and army, he added.
"It is in no way related to toppling the government," said KC, responding to a query on whether his party was working on formation of a new coalition against the Maoists.
