Organizing a press conference at the newly opened office on Thursday, third front presidential candidate Bhim Bahadur Tamang and General Secretary candidate Narahari Acharya put forth a joint resolution and a commitment paper. [break]
In the 11-page commitment paper, the two leaders have pledge to make NC a party common to people from all walks of life. In the paper they have also committed themselves to making socio-economic transformation, equal political behavior and financial transparency their way of life and conduct.
“We have come for change. We are harbingers of change,” the leaders duo told media persons.
The leaders have also floated four formulas to help transform NC. These includes freeing the party from factionalism, adherence in practice to the inclusive policy adopted by the late BP Koirala, preparing the ground for giving youths responsibility for running the party and establishing NC as the largest political party by enthusing it through ideological activism.
In the joint commitment paper, the two leaders pointed out the need for new structures and internal democratic exercises in the party and a new approach for maintaining relations with other political parties.
Among other things, the concept paper includes issues related to constitution drafting, socio-economic development, security policy and the national army, and an effective foreign policy.
Besides Deuba and Tamang, NC youth leaders vying for posts in the party´s Central Working Committee (CWC) have also opened a separate liaison office, at Kamaladi.
