However, Nepal Army´s Lt Colonel and sports department chief Bhai Krishna Khatri said that NA wasn´t pulling out of the tournament. Talking to myrepublica.com, Khatri said, "Tie-sheet of the tournament isn´t published yet. We have no knowledge of PLA´s participation in the tournament and we haven´t decided to pull out of the tournament."

The NA boycotted events participated by the PLA Sports Club in the Fifth National Games held in March, raising question mark on the authenticity as well as success of the Games. The NA had walked out of the volleyball tournament last month over PLA´s participation.

However, the NVA was confident that the NA would re-register before the start of the tournament on Sunday. “We have taken this tournament as the yard stick for selection of teams for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Bangladesh early next year.

“There are good players in the Nepal Army´s team and they do not want to miss the opportunity to play for the country in upcoming SAG, we are confident NA will join the tournament on Sunday,” claimed Gajendra Tamli Limbu, coordinator of the tournament.

The tournament will be played in two tier league for men while women will play in single league format. In men´s preliminary league round, PLA is pitted along with Eastern Region, Central Region, Mid-western Region, Far-eastern Region, Jawalakhel Club and ESC Club.

Two top teams will advance to the super league and play round robin league with Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Club, Ex-Bagar Club, Pokhara. These four teams were qualified as the top four teams of first Volleyball league tournament held in February.

In women´s category, only one tier league match will be played between 7 teams, five regional clubs, Nepal Police and PLA sports club. Winner from among men´s team will receive Rs 80,000 cash prize, runner up Rs 40, 000, third placed team Rs 20,000 and fourth placed team will receive a purse of Rs 10,000.

Likewise, winner in women´s category will be richer by Rs 25,000, runner up will get Rs 15,000, third will receive Rs 10,000 and fourth placed team will get Rs 5,000.

The tournament will be held in two grounds, Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center and Sports Council Covered Hall, Tripureshwar.
