Titled “Nagarik, the Journey of Fashion VI, Style Carnival,” the event is organized by the college’s Bachelor in Fashion Designing students.[break]
Divided into two chapters, the carnival is set to be held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza. For the creative round, 22 students will present their masterpieces on different themes, such as Measurement, Beauty of Nature, Ocean Life et al. Each student will have worked on a different theme.
“The event is part of the graduation requirements. Students have to put together a fashion event to secure 50% of the marks for the Fashion Show subject,” informed Sashi Kapali, the college coordinator.
As the carnival’s precursor, the college organized a pre-evaluation show on September 14 for the judges – Sadichha Shrestha, Miss Nepal 2010; Anu Shrestha, CEO, Square One Fashion; Yasmine Rana of Yasmine Studio, and Kiran Prakash Saakha, director of the Saakha Group.
In the pre-evaluation edition, the students briefed the judges about their design ideas, fabrics and sample works. And on the basis of these regimes, the judges graded the students’ works.
However, these grades are not the final ones. The panel of judges will submit their final verdict after viewing the real works on the main event day. The aggregated marks from the pre-evaluation round and the final show will be sent to Purbanchal University for final grading.
Apart from the creative round, the students have paired up to work in four different sequences—Gowns, Casuals, Inspiration, and Illusion. Every sequence will have 11 designs, except in Inspiration.
“For the designated Inspiration sequence, eight wheelchair models will take to the runway, clad in the designs especially made for the models with spinal injury,” informed Kapali.
